The video we have for you today will completely reaffirm your love for Harley-Davidson.
It’s a standoff at a red light; a Harley sits, awaiting the light to turn green when he is approached by another rider, who sits on a Yamaha R6 street bike, and motions for him to race down the next stretch of roadway.
From the looks of it, the Harley might be a Street Glide, maybe a Softail – it’s hard to tell – however, the model doesn’t particularly matter when he leaves the Yamaha R6 in his dust.
The Yamaha R6 has a 599cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine with 16 titanium valves. This gives it a 67.0mm x 42.5mm (bore x stroke); couple that with its max weight of 419 LBS, well, there’s no reason the machine should be losing a street race with a much heavier and bulkier Harley-Davidson, right? Not so much. The Harley-Davidson has some pretty sick torque – 3,000 RPMs for both the Street Glide and the Softail – so maybe its no contest for a Yamaha R6 to win afterall.
Anyway, check out the video below – even with everything already said, it’s pretty sweet to see a Harley smoke a Yamaha R6 out on the road. Tell us in the comments what your thoughts are of this little race. Would you take on a street bike in the road on your Harley? Why or why not?
