Motorcyclist Suffers Gunshot Wound After Gun Goes Off During Crash

MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a single gunshot fired, as both, the driver and passenger were ejected onto the roadway along W. New Haven Ave. and Vista Lake Cir. on Thursday in Melbourne.

The driver of the motorcycle has been identified as a 32-year-old man, Brian Alexander, from Melbourne.

Alexander suffered serious injuries after he lost control of his 1984 Honda motorcycle and was ejected from the bike and shot, when a gun he was carrying in a holster on his hip, shot him once in the leg, as he landed on the pavement from the ejection.

The passenger on the motorcycle has been identified as a 36-year-old woman, Alexis Travis, from Rockledge. Travis suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m.The driver and passenger were wearing helmets.

Both, Mr. Alexander and Ms. Travis, were transported to Holmes Regional, according to Lt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol.
